Women In Technology Meetup In Kaduna

This Weekend in Technology in Kaduna

In recent time, Kaduna  is manifesting herself on the Nigerian map as one of the hubs for technology and innovation of the nation outside Lagos.

There are two events happening this weekend in Kaduna which we would like to bring to the notice of those that would be in town this weekend or those that have people that would be in town.

Brainiacs Women in STEM Meetup with Aisha Amoka

The meetup with Aisha Amoka, a Women in STEM Ambassador is jointly organized by Brainiacs STEM & Robotics alongside Startup Kaduna. The aim of the meetup is to address the issues as facing women with careers in scientific and technical fields. While also to encourage women and girls to opt for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

“Having a diverse gender representation in STEM should be the goal of every nation.  So far, Nigeria is still in the budding stage of encouraging our female youths in these areas.  Women in Stem with Brainiacs.com.ng seeks to address this issue by putting up an environment where ladies in STEM/Tech can Connect, talk about ideas and new Technologies. We believe a robust IT environment must have representation of all genders” Aisha Amoka. System analyst

Will you be in this part of the nation this weekend? It actually won’t be a bad idea to be part of those that would nurture the next generation of technopreneurs, especially in the northern part of the country.

Hour of Code Session Kaduna

“We are excited at the prospects of sparking interest in technology in young people in Kaduna. Some early stage schools teach computer science but most don’t. The Hour of Code™ introduces our kids in Kaduna to computer coding so they can have the same opportunities as Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg who mastered the elementary computer programming guide ‘C++ for dummies’ at 9 years of age.” – Samaila Goje, Startup Kaduna

The Hour of Code™ which is an initiative of www.Code.org designed to serve as an introductory session for children and young adults into the basics of Computer programming is going to be an hour during which participants (kids between the ages of 5 and 16) will learn programming while playing the Microsoft game Minecraft. The session will last an hour, and parents are to come along with their kids.

Participants will be provided with a certificate at the end of the exercise and a copy of the tutorial. Do note the Hour of Code will also be taking place in Jos at Brainiacs Creativity Hub, No 8 Ahmadu Bello Way Jos, Plateau State and at Brainiacs Creativity Hub 21B Idowu Martin (MotherCare Centre) Victoria Island in Lagos.
